A note for grown-ups
We use the seven-continent model and five oceans. “Australia / Oceania” groups the Australian continent and the wider Pacific island region for young learners. Oceania includes 14 UN-member countries; our scrapbook also includes the Cook Islands and Niue, self-governing states in free association with New Zealand. The list covers the 249 ISO 3166-1 entries plus Kosovo. It includes countries, territories and special geographic areas; inclusion does not imply political recognition. Some countries span continents; questions specify the relevant part. Places without a separate capital have flag and region questions. Countries with multiple capitals use precisely worded questions. Nauru’s question asks about government offices in Yaren District. Sri Lanka’s capital question specifically asks for its legislative capital. Malaysia’s capital is Kuala Lumpur; Putrajaya is its administrative centre. Flags may look slightly different on different devices. Difficulty is relative: a grown-up can help with reading and harder place names. Progress stays in this browser. Read-aloud prefers a gentle female English voice when one is available on your device. The exact voice depends on your browser’s available voices.
